10 finalists selected to compete in THRIVE Europe Challenge!

The THRIVE Europe Challenge is a pitch program for startups solving problems of the European agrifood industry and aligned to the goals of the European Green Deal, specifically the Farm to Fork Strategy and the U.N. SDG’s. The winning startup will be selected for global recognition and a place in the final Pitch Competition of award-winning Global THRIVE Accelerator Program.

Selected from a pool of almost 300 applications from across 27 countries, the 10 startups—two from Ireland and one each from Finland, Israel, Romania, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the U.K.—will pitch their innovative and sustainable solutions to an expert judging panel featuring representatives from ICL, Rabo Bank, Microsoft, Ornua, BayWa, and Zoetis.

AgXeed, the Netherlands: AgXeed provides the all-in autonomy solution. A smart and ready to use autonomy system with scalable and customizable hardware, virtual planning tools and valuable data models.

eniferBio, Finland: eniferBio is a Finnish biotech start-up developing a unique mycoprotein feed for aquaculture. It’s PEKILO® P65 high-protein ingredient is made using renewable raw materials, close to end users. It offers a sustainable alternative to soy protein concentrate, the environmentally damaging current industry standard. And the best part – it costs no more to produce. Their production process runs on side streams from biorefineries, such as corn ethanol mills, providing them with clean water and a valuable new source of revenue.

Greeneye Technology, Israel: Greeneye utilizes artificial intelligence and deep learning technology to revolutionize the pest control process in agriculture, transitioning from the current practice of broadcast and wasteful spraying of pesticides to precise and selective spraying.

AgroSustain, Switzerland: AgroSustain – a one-stop-shop solution for biological plant protection. It aims to reduce food waste and support organic food production by developing farm to fork solutions, like biological fungicides and coatings.

CBN, Romania : CBN agrotech provides complete software solution for control of stored grains and prevent risks. Users can generate and analyze automatic charts, centralize all silos around the world and have real time alerts by SMS and email.

SPHERAG, Spain: SPHERAG is an innovative combination of hardware & software where an autonomous and bidirectional management platform, equipped with intelligence and recommendation algorithms, communicates in real time remotely with the devices deployed in agricultural facilities, allowing monitoring and operating on the farm.

Gardin, the U.K.: It’s state-of-the-art optical remote sensing technology, machine vision and analytics, allow producers to measure plant physiology and proactively adjust parameters in order to optimise operations. Gardin enables end-to-end control of the process which results in less waste with increased efficiency, improved margins from higher quality and healthier consumers from the ability to measure and quantify the nutritional content of food.

Lupinta, Sweden: A plant-based protein startup which uses Lupin beans to meet the accelerating demand for sustainable and tasty plant-based foods. It offers a useful, good and environmentally friendly alternative to today’s meat substitutes, which today are primarily from imported soy protein. Lupinta is a local alternative to meat, soy or any food on your plate without compromise. Neither for the environment nor the nutritional content.

Carbon Harvesters, Ireland: On the Carbon Harvesters platform dairy farms can monitor, reduce, certify and monetise the certified mitigation.

Micron Kit, Ireland: The Micron Kit is a pen-side testing kit that allows farmers or vets to rapidly detect parasitic infections in cattle. Samples are analysed via the Micron app through a revolutionary machine learning process. This saves time and reduces spending on medication.
